It's been a while since I've been able to do a Cheddar X but that's okay - it just means this is a rare and valuable cheese. This week's Cheddar is political in nature but Johnny did an excellent job of not making them leading questions. Here goes:
1. If you had a choice of dinner with George W. Bush or John Kerry, which would it be, why and what would you serve?
I'd be eating with George. I can't imagine myself enjoying a dinner with John Kerry. We have absolutely nothing in common except for having served in the Navy and even that was totally different - I was there voluntarily and I was proud of it. I'd be happy to have George over for some beer and barbecue, shoot the shit, maybe a couple hands of euchre (dollar stakes - he can afford it). Actually sounds like a pretty nice evening, doesn't it?
2. What are your three major criteria for choosing who to vote for?
I need to be able to trust their convictions, they need to be dedicated to eradicating terrorism completely and utterly, they need to be able to put America's interests before the rest of the world's without the slightest hesitation.
3. Do you plan to vote "for" someone or "against" someone?
Well since we're voting for a plurality poll each vote is for one person and against all of the others. In the spirit of the question though, I'll be voting "for" someone. I hope I'm never in a position where I need to vote against someone for President.
4. What bothers you most about this presidential election?
The fantastic negative attitude of the Democratic party. I think that the party had much better candidates than Kerry but the party was acting on anger instead of intellect. Support got skewed toward anti-Bush candidates instead of pro-America candidates. It continues to this day with the "Anybody but Bush" campaign model.
5. How much does a candidate's religious affiliation have to do with your decision to vote for him?
Absolutely nothing. No, check that. I'd find myself hesitant to vote for a Muslim right now.
6. When do you think the first female president will be elected?
2008 and it will be either Hillary Clinton (God in Heaven protect us) or Condoleeza Rice.
7. Who, among prominent politicians, would you most like to see in the White House?
I'm assuming this means excepting Zell Miller, my very own Georgia senator. I don't agree with all of his policies but I agree with most of them. One thing I do know beyond a doubt is that he will stand up for his convictions, even when that involves bucking his party.
8. Who, among all people, would you like to see in the White House?
Um...hello? Haven't you been paying attention? Givens and Peacock in 2004!
Definitely Givens and Peacock, never did a Chedder X, might convince me to try.
