Smoke that Cheddar!
(Category: About Jim )

Cheddar X, that is. It's a Cheesy Movie Friday (in the extended post).

1. What's your favorite/least favorite movie?
How to pick a favorite? There are so many. A short list would include The Princess Bride, The Neverending Story, The Usual Suspects and The Holy Grail. What can I say? I've got a thing for movies with a "the" in the title. Oh, yeah - almost forgot Highlander and Wrath of Khan. Anything with Martin Short or Chris Kattan in it could qualify for least favorite.

2. What's the best movie-adaptation of a book?
The Hunt for Red October. (Another "the" movie!)

3. What movie makes you cry?
None of the above. By itself anyway. I almost cried the first time I watched Lilo & Stitch 'cause it was the first time I took Bear to a movie so it was an emotional daddy moment for me. The part that almost got me was at the end where Stitch is about to be taken away and he says "It's my family. It's little and it's broken, but it's good." [sniff]

4. What movie do you watch to cheer you up?
None, really. I've never tried movie therapy.

5. Any amusing stories involving movies or the movie theater?
I got a hand job when I saw Shine. I guess that's not all that amusing but I was sure smiling a lot.

6. Would you rather go to the theater or stay home and watch a movie?
Both/either. Depends on the movie and the situation. Sweeping epics and "big" movies I greatly prefer in a theater. Most others are better at home. Jurassic Park, Fellowship of the Ring - theater. Platoon, The Mask - home.

7. Are you more awed by a good plot or special effects?
A plot. Special effects are nice but you can't quote 'em.

8. Who is your favorite/least favorite actor/actress?
Once again I can't really give a favorite. A lot of it depends on the type of movie. Jim Carey, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Robert DeNiro, Kevin Spacey and Jimmy Stewart are at the top of my favorite actors list. I will turn off anything with Gilbert Gottfried in it. Favorite actresses include Ann Archer, Audrey Hepburn, Sandra Bullock (yeah, I know, I can't help it), Elizabeth Hurley and Minnie Driver as well as most other actresses when they are at least partially nude, especially Penélope Cruz when she shows nipples. Fran Drescher will make me leave a theatre. Never thought of it before but I guess an annoying voice will piss me off much more than bad acting.

9. What's your favorite cult movie?
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

10. Matrix Revolutions, worth the wait or WTF?
Didn't see it. Not going to see it. Didn't see #2 either. I'm perfectly happy having the series end with the first movie. Sometimes a spoon is just a spoon and even when it isn't a spoon it's 1 good movie at the most.
