We were served
(Category: True Stories )

We had dinner at Trey's place last night. All of us. That is, Lovely Wife and I plus three (count them: 1 - 2 - 3) children ages five and under.

Trey has a very nice house. It's new. He is a very, very brave man.

Dinner was fantastic. Sangria and veggie dip started us out. Ever have sangria? I was a sangria virgin and I quite enjoyed it. Lemon juice, sugar and red wine (in the correct proportions) make a light and refreshing drink. This one might become part of our regular repertoire.

The meal was centered around chicken Creole and it was to die for. I had chicken Creole dreams last night. No joke. Damn, that was good.

Did you know that chicken Creole is a red sauce? Three kids, five years and younger. I told you that Trey was a very, very brave man.

There was also much romping about Trey's home inside and out. The beds in his spare room got a thorough workout. Might need to check the box springs on those suckers.

Get your minds out of the gutter - they served as trampoline entertainment devices. We don't have bed jumping at home. It's not that we're opposed to bed jumping, it's just that we have a low hanging ceiling fan over ours and theirs don't have box springs. Much fun was had jumping from one bed to the other with Trey serving as spotter for the psychotic acrobats.

Later there was cavorting on the front lawn. Trey's front lawn has a slope that would do a toboggan run proud. It's approximately 8 Bear-sized somersaults from the top of the hill to the bottom. Or 4.25 Trey-sized ones.

Leaving was difficult. Not only were we a bit soporific from hearty amounts of great food plus the romping and cavorting but Bacon pretty much grafted himself to Trey's leg and we had a bit of a time getting him into the van. After a quick Baconectomy we were off for a sleepy ride home.

It was a wonderful time. Trey is a great cook and equally adept at entertaining adults and kids. In fact, the kids had such a great time that they wanted to stay there and send us home alone. Hmmm...now that is an interesting idea...
