To arms! To arms!
Sir Robert has declared war on an annoying form-letter spewing PR hack named James Fryer. Help the cause by sending James some inane answers to his questions. Make them just kooky enough to be from a genuine interloon and we can absorb loads of their time and corrupt their evil data. And make sure to properly format his email address so it is picked up by all of the spambots.
Here's what I'm sending him:
1. How do you typically source material/stories for your blog/site?
I steal them from European bloggers. You see, I'm one of the earliest rising American bloggers. I can take stuff from Brit or Aussie bloggers and present it as my own and none of my countrymen know the difference. It serves a good purpose though. Since Americans don't trust foreigners this is actually giving those alien bloggers a chance to reach "the real" Internet over here in the States.
2. Have you any examples of a story that you have broken on your blog, being second sourced up other blogs or the mainstream media?
I break so much stuff on my blog that it isn't even funny. Fortunately I know somebody who made my blog look good and made it safer for me to mess around with. I only screw with one file now so the chances of me doing something catastrophic are much reduced. Don't tell anybody this but he's one of those foreigners I was talking about.
3. Do you believe people use or will in the future use blogs as a news source over the traditional medium of newspapers, tv and radio? And have you any evidence to support this?
Seriously? Like what...just because some freak with angoraphobia hangs out on his computer all day and writes something on the internet I'm supposed to say that it's news? I don't think so. Nothing will ever replace traditional news sources because they have such perfectly cultivated auras of trust and we all see how they are completely dedicated to supplying us with non-partisan news coverage. Bloggers? Speh! Half of them write about their own opinions on things and not the simple dispassionate recitation we respect and admire in the traditional news sources.
4. What are your views of the commercial sector adopting blogs to communication with customers, and other target audiences?
Commercial blogs? I don't even like advertising on blogs and you're looking for entire blogs about products? Yuck! Although if you think about it, a lot of the porn sites are like commercial blogs right now. Personal content, new stuff in the front, commentary and conversation is often permissible and the readers rip off the copyrighted content for their own use without the slightest qualm. Yeah, I guess commercial blogs are already here.
Funny, yet with a dash of truth in each answer. Especially the schtick about stealing foreigners' stuff and passing it off as your own. Though it works in reverse too (see "The Nipple Incident").
Nice touch leaving his email for the spambots.
angoraphobia - a fear of expensive wool? But well done that man... lets see if we can't get a few more off to this asshole.
No, it's the fear of fat hairy rabbits.
